A Texas middle school teacher can be seen smiling in her mug shot, taken after being arrested for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with one of her former students, police say.
45-year-old Angela Barnes was arrested by Keller police on Monday. Police discovered evidence suggesting Barnes had engaged in a sexual relationship with a minor between June and July of 2024, FOX 4 reported.
Police initially received a tip about the Carroll Middle School teacher in September, launching an investigation into her conduct. The underaged boy she was allegedly involved with has been identified as one of her former students at the middle school.
"At this time, we do not have reason to believe there are additional victims," Keller police said.
Barnes has been charged with the sexual assault of a child and an improper relationship between an educator and a student.
"Carroll ISD immediately placed this staff member on administrative leave and reported to the proper authorities. The District was made aware the alleged offense took place off-campus over the summer within the jurisdiction of the Keller Police Department. Based on the information we have received, no incidents occurred on CISD campuses," said Carroll Independent School District in a statement regarding the incident.
"The safety and security of all students is always our top priority and any allegations of adult misconduct are addressed promptly and reported immediately to the proper authorities," they continued.
