The California musician convicted of murdering his scientist girlfriend told her he could "mash" her "f-----g brain" after she refused to go out and play pool with him the night he killed her.
Theo "Mylo" Lengyel, the 55-year-old former saxophonist for rock band Mr. Bungle, told Alice "Alyx" Herrmann, 61, that he "could run over there right now... I could mash your f-----g brain," after she shot down his idea of a night out, according to a horrific, three-hour-long audio clip, covertly recorded by the victim on her cell phone documenting the moments leading up to her death at her Capitola, California home on Dec. 3, 2023, the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported.
Prosecutors presented the damning evidence to the jury earlier this month during Lengyel's six-week trial in a Santa Cruz, California courthouse.
In the disturbing recording, Lengyel could also be heard threatening to slaughter the couple's dog.
"How about I just kill Trav to demonstrate how I could kill you?" he proposed minutes later.
The situation could be heard escalating and later turning physical, as Lengyel seemingly climbed on top of Herrmann, and restrained her as she struggled to free herself from his grip.
"Are you at my mercy right now?" he taunted, according to the clip, KRON-TV reported. "Do you want to have a... truce right now? You wanna live?"
She answered by telling Lengyel she wanted to end things and proceeded to cry.
"You're gonna f-----g die right now," he vowed. "Are you ready?"
In that moment, Herrmann could be heard struggling to catch her breath, according to the outlet.
"Okay. How do you want to die? Blunt trauma or something else... think you should be choked to death? How about that?" Lengyel suggested.
Herrmann begged him to stop until her breathing faded and she seemingly died, according to the audio, the station reported.
Following a day of deliberation Thursday, a jury found Lengyel guilty of first-degree murder in the brutal strangulation of Herrmann, despite entering a not guilty plea, the Lawyer Herald previously reported.
He faces up to life in prison at his sentencing hearing Nov. 7.
