In a shocking video, a former Arkansas deputy can be seen slamming a victim's head against the pavement and repeatedly punching them during a violent arrest.
The former law enforcement officer with the Crawford County Sheriff's Office allegedly violated the civil rights of a man he arrested in 2022 and will now serve time in a federal prison medical facility.
White pleaded guilty to the felony count of deprivation of rights under color of law during the August 21, 2022, arrest of Randal Worcester outside a convenience store.
On Wednesday, US District Judge Susan O. Hickey sentenced former Crawford County sheriff's deputy Levi White to 63 months with credit for time served and ordered that he be confined at the United States Medical Center for Federal Prisoners, according to KATV.
Hickey also recommended that White receive mental health counseling and treatment while serving his time at the facility in Springfield, Missouri.
A bystander had recorded the arrest on his cellphone as White and another former deputy, Zackary King, continuously beat the victim before slamming his head into the pavement.
The footage went viral following the incident and led to federal prosecutors charging both officers.
King also pleaded guilty and is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday.
A third officer, Thell Riddle, who was present at the time of the arrest was not charged in the federal case.
Police allege Worcester was being questioned at the time for threatening a clerk at a convenience store in a nearby town when he tackled one of the deputies and punched him in the head prior to his takedown.
The victim has since filed a lawsuit against the three officers, the city of Mulberry, and Crawford County over the arrest.
