Police in Vermont responded to a call on Monday night after receiving reports about a blowtorch-wielding man attacking a person inside their home.

The Burlington Police Department received the 911 call just after 8 p.m., with the dispatcher alleging they could hear a person screaming in the background before the call ended abruptly.

When officers arrived on the scene, they heard a person yelling inside, which prompted them to force entry into the residence.

Authorities arrested 33-year-old Eric Down, who was allegedly attacking an individual with a broom and a blowtorch, according to NBC5.

Down is facing several charges, including domestic assault.

He is currently being held at the Northwest State Correctional Facility.
