Police are investigating what they believe to be human remains found in a trash chute at a luxury downtown Miami apartment complex.
Building management reported the macabre discovery to police Monday morning, according to WTVJ-TV.
The remains appeared to belong to a man whose identity has yet to be determined, police said, WSVN-TV reported.
"Detectives are actively looking into this incident and are furthering their investigation," Miami police spokesperson Kiara Delva told WPLG-TV.
It's unclear how the remains ended up in the chute and the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities did not comment on whether or not they believe foul play is involved.
