Authorities arrested a Texas teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student after the pair were purportedly caught at a home under construction Thursday.
Jennifer Massey, a 51-year-old teacher at Davenport High School in San Antonio, Texas, was charged with improper relationship between educator and student, according to the Comal County Sheriff's Office.
It's unclear if she entered a plea to the charge.
Deputies responding to a call of a suspicious person at the unfinished house Thursday evening allegedly encountered Massey and the juvenile.
"The preliminary investigation revealed the two individuals engaged in sexual contact," the sheriff's office said.
Massey was placed on administrative leave pending investigation.
"The safety and security of our students is one of our highest priorities, and a responsibility that we take seriously," Principal Angela Looney said in a letter to parents Friday, according to KSAT-TV. "During the hiring process, the district's human resources department conducts full background checks and criminal history to ensure that classrooms are led by individuals who have every student's best interest in mind."
