Law enforcement are hoping a $100,000 reward will be enough to get anyone to come forward with information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators involved in a "targeted" mass shooting outside an Alabama nightclub over the weekend.
At least four people were killed and 17 others injured Saturday night outside the club Hush in downtown Birmingham, Alabama, according to officials, WIAT-TV reported.
During a press conference Monday, investigators described the shooting as a possible "murder-for-hire" plot involving several suspects armed with fully-automatic rifles, according to the outlet.
Anitra Holloman, 21, Tahj Booker, 27, Carlos McCain, 27, and Roderick Lynn Paterson Jr., 26, died.
Police believe one of them was the intended target when multiple gunmen opened fire on unsuspecting patrons waiting in line outside the club.
They did not elaborate on a possible motive.
Four people remain in critical condition, investigators said, according to WTVM-TV.
Gabriel Eslami was among the survivors.
"So we're standing in line and all of a sudden, you just hear full auto gun shots toward the beginning of the line," Eslami told WIAT. "Initially, I thought they were shooting toward the beginning of the line, and then come to realize that they are shooting up the line."
"I get back up, I kind of look back and there's nothing but bodies and gun smoke on the ground," he recalled, after getting shot in the leg. "It's literally a scene from a horror movie."
The shooters remain at large.
"It is critically important that as a community, we come together in this moment," Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin said, per the station. "As a community, we cannot give safe harbor or shelter to people who want to simply kill people. They should not feel safe in our community. They should not feel safe anywhere."
