Sean "Diddy" Combs will remain behind bars after a second judge denied him bail Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
Judge Andrew L. Carter said the prosecution had proved "by clear and convincing evidence that there is no condition or set of conditions" that will guarantee the community's safety or prevent potential witness tampering by the disgraced 54-year-old record producer, the outlet reported.
Combs is facing three felony charges — racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, according to the 14-page, newly-unsealed federal indictment, obtained by the Lawyer Herald.
According to the documents, Combs allegedly "abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct" and he created "a criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged in, and attempted to engage in, among other crimes, sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice."
Combs purportedly "engaged in a persistent and pervasive pattern of abuse toward women and other individuals. This abuse was, at times, verbal, emotional, physical, and sexual. As part of his pattern of abuse, Combs manipulated women to participate in highly orchestrated performances of sexual activity with male commercial sex workers," the indictment read.
The music mogul "ensured participation from the women by, among other things, obtaining and distributing narcotics to them, controlling their careers, leveraging his financial support and threatening to cut off the same, and using intimidation and violence," prosecutors alleged in the filing.
Combs pleaded not guilty to the charges Tuesday and will be held in federal custody pending trial.
While walking into court Wednesday, defense attorney Marc Agnifilo told reporters he was "feeling confident. We're going to go get Mr. Combs out of jail," adding Combs is "doing great, he's focused and he's ready for his hearing," the AP reported.
If convicted on the current charges, he faces up to life in prison.
In November 2023, ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs, accusing him of rape, sex trafficking, and physical abuse.
An undisclosed settlement was reached the next day, however; several women have since come forward alleging sexual misconduct at the hands of Combs, including his former music producer Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones.
