Tennessee man tells police his finger slipped on trigger that killed his girlfriend

A 26-year-old man told police he shot his girlfriend when his finger slipped on the trigger guard causing it to discharge. Getty

A man in Bellevue, Tennessee, called 911 to report his girlfriend had shot herself in the head before quickly retracting the statement to say his finger had slipped into the trigger guard of the pistol, causing it to discharge.

Police have since arrested Jack Becker, 26, in connection to Autumn Joiner's, 30, death.

The shooting occurred last Friday morning at the apartment Becker and Joiner shared.

Following a police investigation, detectives concluded that there were inconsistencies with Becker's version of events.

Furthermore, officials found evidence showing that Joiner was unhappy living with Becker, according to News Channel 5.

Becker is currently in jail on a $500,000 bond.
