Liverpool is now ready to back up its embattled player Luis Suarez. According to an ESPN report, the English club is mulling over legal options against FIFA, who had imposed a wide-ranging four-month ban from all football against the Uruguayan for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini at a World Cup match.

Suarez, who aided Uruguay to reach the Round of 16, has since received the support of its home team and the Uruguay Football Association. The Uruguay FA along with Suarez's legal counsel has already expressed its plans to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to appeal against the FIFA decision.

Liverpool, on the other hand, were reportedly taking specialist legal advice over the ban, which would also exclude the football star from training with them or anyone else and from going to any stadium.

ESPN said the club's view about the incident and the subsequent punishment was that it was unprecedented and have left them in a difficult position. It has been known that Liverpool is aware of Suarez's problems on the field but has relied on him last season, of which Suarez did not spoil as he went on winning the Professional Footballers' Association and Football Writers' Association player of the year awards and was the top scorer in the Premier League at 31 goals.

Although Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre has released a statement that the club would be waiting for FIFA's full report on the matter, The Times has claimed that the Ayre and the rest of the club are furious with the decision to had out a punishment that has serious effects to Liverpool since they have released the player to play for his country in the tournament.

Liverpool's position on Suarez would be the catalyst that would determine the talented Uruguayan's future in professional football, including his relationship with his sponsors. 888poker, who has a business relationship with Suarez, has already released a statement severing its ties with the Uruguayan.

It read, "888poker signed Luis Suarez following a fantastic season for which his achievements were widely recognized. Regrettably, following his actions during Uruguay's World Cup match against Italy on Tuesday, 888poker has decided to terminate its relationship with Luis Suarez with immediate effect."
