Prosecutors claim Aaron Hernandez killed two over a spilled drink

By

In his arraignment for charges linked to the murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, prosecutors said on Wednesday that defendant Aaron Hernandez got spilled with his own drink by one of the victims when he bumped into the former athlete at a Boston-area nightclub. The prosecutors added that the incident had led to Fernandez getting agitated with the pair. The ex-National Football League star later waited for de Abreu and Furtado to leave in their car, tailed them in his car and positioned his vehicle beside theirs at an intersection at a red light, the prosecutors claimed. Hernandez reportedly said a few words before unloading his .38-caliber pistol into the two men, killing them instantly.

Buzzfeed said Fernandez had submitted a not guilty plea to all charges relating to the 2012 double homicide. The charges came to light when the former athlete was indicated on separate charges for the murder of another individual, Odin Lloyd, last year.

Hernandez has made an appearance at a Massachusetts court today following de Abreu and Furtado's deaths. TMZ said Officials have said that at the time of the killings, the sports star was becoming more and more paranoid that people were trying to disrespect him and were testing him in the nightclubs in Boston.

In the 2012 case, de Abreu was supposedly dancing and had bumped into Hernandez by accident. De Abreu allegedly did not apologize for the spilled drink, and even offered a smile to Hernandez, of which officials postulated might have set the sports star off.

Prosecutors have mentioned that a third passenger in de Abreu's and Furtado's car was injured when Hernandez fired the shots, but it was not clear whether the said passenger had provided authorities testimony to point the football star as the killer. On the other hand, prosecutors have said that Hernandez himself admitted to shooting the pair to an associate and said, "I think I got one in the head and one in the chest."
