Tyreek Hill's routine drive to the stadium took a violent turn when Florida police officers, now under investigation, forcefully dragged the NFL star from his car in an incident the Miami Dolphins have blasted as "despicable" and racially charged.
Newly released bodycam footage of the incident released on Monday showed officers dragging Hill out of his car before forcing him to lie face down on the road and handcuffing him.
While restrained, one officer put a knee to Hill's back and held his wrists against him.
Hill, 30, was pulled over as he was pulling into the team's home stadium ahead of their first game of the new season this Sunday.
Three officers detained the wide receiver near the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens in an incident that has prompted claims of racial profiling.
The video goes on to show Hill being dragged out of his McClaren sports car and forced to the floor after rolling up the window of his sports car.
An officer can then be heard saying, "If we tell you to do something, do it."
The officer who initially pulled Hill from his car is seen jumping behind the footballer and holding a bar to Hill's upper chest under his neck.
The Dolphins took to X to condemn what they called "overly aggressive and violent" conduct by the police.
Calling for "swift and strong action against the officers who engaged in such despicable behavior," the statement said it was "a reminder that not every situation like this ends in peace... 'What if I wasn't Tyreek Hill?' is a question that will carry with resounding impact."
On Monday, Hill told Skynews partner, NBC, "It just went from nought to 60, man, from the moment that those guys pulled up behind me and knocked on my window.
A representative for the police union stated Hill was at fault for not being "immediately" cooperative with officers, NBC said.
An officer involved in the stop has been suspended pending an investigation.
Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told the news outlet that his client was charged with reckless driving and driving without a license.
Hill also thanked his teammates-tight end Jonnu Smith and defensive lineman Calais Campbell-who were driving by, witnessed the distressing ordeal, and stopped to help.
