Allegations that a newlywed couple killed a groomsman soon after he appeared in their wedding shocked even a longtime local prosecutor who said he'd "never seen anything quite like this" in his 20 years in law enforcement.

James Shirah, 22, and his bride, Savahna Collier, 21, tied the knot Aug. 30, in Flint, Michigan, according to police.

Following a dispute, police say Shirah struck 29-year-old groomsman Terry Lewis Taylor, Jr. – intentionally and fatally – with an SUV driven at a high rate of speed by the newly married man.

Details of the dispute were undisclosed.

"I've never seen anything quite like this," county prosecutor David Leyton admitted, according to the Associated Press. "I've seen people running over other people but not so soon after a wedding."

Taylor was pronounced dead at the hospital after being found unresponsive in the street.

According to his obituary, Taylor leaves behind a pregnant fiancée and three children.

Shirah is being held without bond on a charge of second-degree murder, according to police. Collier was released on $4000 bond on an accessory charge.

It's unclear if either suspect entered a plea.
