The daughter of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis allegedly blamed her mothe when asked by Georgia police why she was speaking on the phone while driving, according to a report.
Kinaya Willis was arrested by Georgia police for allegedly driving on a suspended license and using a mobile phone on August 24.
When officers pulled over Willis, 25, she blamed the call on her her mother, claiming the district attorney called her due to a pregnancy-related concern, according to a police report obtained by the DailyMail.
The 25-year-old told an officer from the Tyrone Police Department that she was unaware her license had been revoked earlier in May for the same offense-driving while suspended.
The Texas Southern University student was searched at the scene and handcuffed on the side of the highway before being transported to the Fayette County Jail on a misdemeanor charge.
"Willis's mother later arrived on scene to take possession of her vehicle," stated the police report.
She was subsequently released and is due back at the Town of Tyrone Municipal Court for arraignment on October 24.
Her arrest puts a damper on Fulton County's celebrated Democrat District Attorney, who is prosecuting an election interference case against former President Donald Trump.
She secured a grand jury indictment against Trump and 18 others in August 2023, alleging that they broke Georgia's anti-racketeering law by trying to overturn the state's general election results.
More controversy soon followed when Willis' affair with Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor lawyer she put in charge, was revealed in a court filing by former White House aide Mike Roman.
