A 38-year-old Florida man who is facing charges for allegedly peeping into a young girl's window and touching himself claims his actions were a simple misunderstanding, insisting he was merely urinating after stopping a dark residential neighborhood.

Alexander Perez Piloto, 38, from Hialeah, was arrested after a safety alert was issued regarding a troubling incident recorded on surveillance footage last week in Little Havana.

Investigators report that the video depicts Piloto looking through the window of a residence near Southwest 10th Street and Seventh Avenue around 6:45 a.m. on August 21, according to Local 10.

He had been observed touching himself while standing outside a fourplex where a 6-year-old girl, two boys aged 8 and 10, and a 30-year-old woman were inside, police reported.

Piloto informed authorities, according to the police report, that he went to the Hialeah Police Department after his wife saw a news video of him linked to the incident. He claimed that while working as a Lyft driver, he stopped to urinate in a dark residential area during that time.

Piloto told detectives he tried to be discreet by looking around to make sure no one saw him, authorities said.

When a light came on, he moved to the back of the building, sat on a chair, and continued urinating after someone questioned his presence, stating that he lived there, investigators reported. After finishing, police said Piloto returned to his car and left the scene. He later admitted he knew he was wrong for entering the property, according to police.

Jose Larrynaga, the little girl's father who was not home at the time of the incident but learned of it after being tipped off by a friend that someone might be stealing his tools, thought otherwise after seeing the surveillance footage.

"He's not urinating," Larrynaga said in an interview when talking about the surveillance video. "He's clearly touching himself."

He also made a confession, which was redacted in the publicly released report, after being taken into custody.
