As investigators continue the desperate search for a missing California mom months after she mysteriously vanished, a former FBI agent is making an eerie connection to another high-profile disappearance- that later turned into a murder investigation.

Former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer took to X to remind the public that Nikki Saelee McCain is still missing while drawing comparisons to the cases of Laci Peterson and, more recently, Mischa Johnson.

"This case mimics #LaciPeterson's case and, more recently, #MischaJohnson's case," she exclaimed on X, formerly Twitter.

Nikki Saelee McCain, a mother of four, vanished earlier in May of this year.

McCain is not pregnant, noted the former agent, but stated that the 39-year-old mother lived a very low-profile, homebody lifestyle yet somehow still vanished.

Nikki's husband, Tyler McCain, allegedly beat and raped his wife ruthlessly, according to Coffindaffer.

He was facing charges when his wife suddenly went missing along with his assault charges, seeing she could not be there to testify against him.

Nikki was first reported missing by her sister, Chloe, on May 21, 2024, to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.

Heightened concern took over when Chloe and another one of Nikki's sisters, Kaye, told authorities that just ten days prior, Nikki had sent a text stating her intent to divorce Tyler and start a new life, according to The Sun.

"She was really excited. She was looking at furniture for a new place, and she was ready to leave Tyler and divorce him for good," said Chloe.

"She had plans to start over, to get her kids back, and she was ready and looking forward to it."

In December 2023, Tyler was arrested and charged with four felony counts of domestic violence after Nikki claimed he tied her up and viciously beat her for over three hours inside their home.

Tyler was due to appear in court to face those charges two weeks after Nikki vanished, resulting in the case's dismissal.

The world will not soon forget the infamous case of Laci Peterson, the 27-year-old Modesto, California resident who went missing in late 2002. The case acheived considerable notoriety after it was revealed that her husband, Scott, had been unfaithful to her and he was eventually arrested for her murder. Scott Peterson, now 51, has since been convicted of the murders of his wife and their unborn son.
