A $2 million class action settlement has been agreed to by Costco Wholesale Corporation. Its Kirkland Signature Moist Flushable Wipes are at issue in this settlement. Consumers who bought the product between 2011 and 2017 may be entitled to monetary reimbursement. Allegations that Costco misled customers about the wipes' safety for plumbing systems prompted the agreement.

Purchasers of the flushable wipes claimed they caused blockages and damage to pipes, septic systems, and sewage lines. Despite the settlement, Costco claims it did nothing wrong and its product works as advertised. Yet, it chose to resolve the allegations with a monetary offer to affected customers.

Eligibility and Compensation Details

Customers who bought the wipes in New York during the specified six-year period are eligible for compensation. Potential claimants have a deadline to submit their request for part of the settlement money. With claims potentially hitting $55.90 per household, this reflects reimbursement for up to 43 purchased products at $1.30 each.

Customers need to understand that purchasing location impacts claim validity. The settlement exclusively covers purchases made in New York. Buyers from other states do not qualify for this particular lawsuit settlement.

Eligible Americans can submit claims without proof of purchase. This makes the process more accessible to a more significant number of participants. As per the terms outlined, the minimum awarded to any customer household will be $7.50, with the $55.90 cap corresponding to the maximum claim amount.
