Probe on missing Malaysia Airline plane focuses on foul play - sources

Reuters said that according to unnamed sources, investigators who are looking into the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 are mulling over the possibility that there has been foul play involved. The sources also said that the possibility of foul play was because of new evidence that suggested the plane was diverted hundreds of miles off from its set route to Beijing.

Two sources also told the news agency that an unidentified aircraft believed to be the missing plane surfaced on military radar and showed that it was following a navigational route that is commonly used by aircraft before disappearing. The plane was reportedly last spotted Saturday early morning northwest of Malaysia.

The course that the plane have taken, which goes into the Andaman Sea and then to the Bay of Bengal in the Indian Ocean area, is deduced to have been knowingly plotted by unknown person or individuals by manually flying the plane or by reprogramming the aircraft's auto-pilot.

A third source who is knowledgeable about the probe also shared to Reuters that investigators are know making inquiries about a person skilled enough to fly the plane and divert it off its course. The source, who is a senior Malaysian police official, told the news agency, "What we can say is we are looking at sabotage, with hijack still on the cards."

Malaysian Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein claimed ignorance about the probe's developments in a news conference, but assured that answers will be attained soon. He said, "A normal investigation becomes narrower with time ... as new information focuses the search, but this is not a normal investigation. In this case, the information has forced us to look further and further afield."

It is most likely that the plane's disappearance could be because of the aircraft's fault. Reuters said that the Boeing 777, of which is the model series the missing Malaysian aircraft belonged to, is deemed to have one of the best safety records fo any commercial aircraft that has been in service.
