Suspect in Holly Bobo murder-kidnap case submits not guilty plea

By

On Tuesday, Zachary Adams has pleaded not guilty to charges filed against him over the kidnapping and murder of Tennessee nursing student Holly Bobo, CBS News said. Bobo disappeared in April almost three years ago, and was allegedly taken and killed by Adams.

Arriving at the Decatur County courthouse wearing prison-issued uniform and with his arms and legs shackled, the 29 year-old murder suspect said very little during the hearing. Adams is reportedly being represented by attorney Jennifer Lynn Thompson.

Last Wednesday, CBS News said Adams was formally charged with especially aggravated kidnapping and first-degree felony murder, following a February 28 arrest on a separate assault charge when authorities had searched his home in relation to the disappearance of Bobo.

CBS News said that Bobo was last seen at her home in Parsons, which is around 110 miles southwest of Nashville, Tennessee. According to Bobo's brother, he witnessed a man wearing camouflage clothing who led his sister into the woods near their hiome.

District Attorney General Hansel McCadams also said along with the announcement of the formal charges filed against Adams that the prosecution was able to garner enough evidence to prove that the teenager was taken forcefully from their house without her consent and was subsequently killed by the assailant in lieu of the kidnapping.

On the other hand, CBS News noted that investigators had not disclosed publicly on what led them to file charges against Adams. The authorities were also secretive about Bobo's body, of which interested media has yet to find out whether it has been recovered by police. Adams' motive behind the kidnapping and murder he allegedly had done were not mentioned either, the news outlet said. Adams' mother, Cindy, noted that her son and Bobo did not run in the same social circles. However, she said her son knew Bobo's mother Karen, who was the suspect's elementary school teacher.
