Sony Pictures Television Networks (SPTN) has sealed a deal with Turner to purchase 24-hour entertainment station truTV, a move to expand its wide broadcast in the UK.
Launched in the UK in August 2014, truTV gained 3.9 million viewers on average each month in 2016. When it started life in the late spring of 2014, truTV was given the mission by Turner to reproduce the achievement of its US variant of the channel which was then viewed in 93 million homes. The channel, said Turner at the time, would "entertain and amuse" through a blend of unique and unscripted programming displaying content which concentrated on genuine individuals and circumstances.
The UK bundle additionally based on unique unscripted content from Turner US, complemented by a slate of acquisitions in organization with third parties such as Zodiak Rights and Endemol.
