President Donald Trump's Lifestyle Is Stressing Secret Service, Draining Taxpayers

President Donald Trump and his entourage is set to fly high for the third consecutive weekend for a business-related retreat at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida’s Palm Beach. Sons Eric and Donald John Trump Jr. will also spend time in the United Aram Emirates to attend the opening of a Trump golf resort situated in the “Beverly Hills of Dubai.”

While first lady Melania Trump requires New York police officers to guard Manhattan’s Trump Tower where she and son Barron are staying, the town of Bedminster in New Jersey is also prepping up the local Trump golf course which will reportedly serve as a presidential getaway for around 10 weekends per year.

Looking into these circumstances, the Trumps’ lifestyle has been referred to by the Washington Post as “unusually elaborate” and is putting a great deal of pressure on security and Secret Service officials alike. The first family’s activities have also been spurring financial issues in local communities.

Expenses brought on by the Trump’s lifestyle can reach hundreds of millions of dollars for the next four years, as based on the assessment of past presidential security and travel costs. However, the government agencies responsible for addressing these costs, such as the departments of defense and homeland security, have not issued an official statement relaying the actual costs since Trump began his term.

According to Palm Beach County officials, they plan to ask for the reimbursement of the costs for additional security and traffic arrangements around the island every time the present comes in. Estimates of police officials also pointed out that the current Trumps’ lifestyle also calls for $500,000 per day to watch over the Trump Tower, which could reach up to $183 million annually.

Even the president’s son Eric and his promotional trip to Uruguay required around $100,000 to pay for the hotel rooms, as paid by the U.S. Embassy and the Secret Service staff members, as noted by the Daily Mail.

“This is an expensive way to conduct business, and the president should recognize that,” Tom Fitton, president of the conservative group Judicial Watch, commented on the Trumps’ lifestyle. “The unique thing about President Trump is that he knows what it costs to run a plane.” The group previously monitored the costs of former President Barack Obama’s family vacations; it will continue such tracking activities for the Trump administration.
