Italian Restaurant Awards Family Deal Discount For Well Mannered Kids

A North Italian restaurant has been praised for its unique policy which rewards families with meal discounts if they manage to keep their children under control.

The eponymous restaurant is run by Antonio Ferrari and is serving customers for 12 years. The owner states that this scheme was to portray his love for kids dining with families at his establishment. The Local reports that the conditions stand as long as the children are well-mannered.

The eatery resembles more to a wine bar and is open to families that include children. Sometimes off-menu meals will be cooked that are considered "kid-friendly" in order to ensure that even picky customers are satisfied.

However, the restaurateur said that not every one of the younger diners are worthy of his special discount. Ferrari explains. "When you get parents who are rude, the kids think they can do anything. They might climb on the tables with their shoes on, play in the bathroom and make a mess with the taps, or annoy the other customers."

The restaurant welcomed a large party on Sunday which comprised of six adults and five children. Ferrari was surprised with the young diners' exceptional table manners. Reportedly, the children busies themselves with coloring books and times tables while their parents dined. Upon completion of the meal, Ferrari offered the party a 5 percent discount resulting in 13 Euros lesser on the bill.

According to Corriere Della Sera, the family was highly pleased with the discount. The family went ahead and returned the favor by tipping the waiter with a generous 30 Euros. Ferrari stated that he only intended to thank the family for managing their kids well. However, the gesture has received plenty of praise in Italy.

The reason Ferrari's place stands out more is probably due to the hiking prices that local restaurants offer to tourists. It is worthy to mention that the discount is not something to "look forward to". Diners must not visit Ferrari for a discount on their perfect well-behaved angels. He says he will definitely offer the discount again but it will not stand as a permanent promotion as "that's not the point."
