For many years, the concept of 5G technology has long been a dream of telecommunications companies. Now Finnish telecommunications company Nokia is making 5G a reality by the end of 2017.
Fone Arena reported that Nokia will be introducing 4.9G before the year ends. This will allow operators to enhance their network performance and manage the demands of higher infrastructure on the way to 5G. Using MIMO Adaptive Antenna, cell capacity will increase by five times. Meanwhile, a 4.5G Pro AirScale Micro Remote Radio Head will give operators the advantage of unlicensed spectrum.
Nokia will be working with US telecom company Sprint in demonstrating the technology using 3D Beanforming software that will provide throughput increases of up to eight-fold uplink and five-fold down link during the Mobile World Congress 2017.
Telecom Economic Times published the statement of Frank Weyerich, Head of Mobile Networks Product of Nokia: "Nokia introduced 4.5G Pro and 4.9G last year to allow operators to implement network capacity increases where and when it made sense for them. We will deliver features that will maximize their resources, speed deployment times and reduce power and costs particularly in the most highly populated locations." Weyerich said.
Tech Republic revealed that Nokia originally announced its 4.9G technology and 4.5G Pro back in September 2016. The two technologies will help bridge the gap between the needs of businesses and consumers while they wait for 5G.
In its press release, Nokia bared that 4.9G will significantly increase capacity and several Gigabits of speed-per-second. Using AirScale massive MIMO Adaptive Antenna is a milestone in delivering 4.9G. The company is leveraging current LTE technology before transitioning to 5G technology.
