Uber Receives $48 Million Lawsuit: App Bug Caused Divorce for a Cheating Husband

By

An enraged businessman filed a lawsuit against Uber because its app bug caused him his marriage. The man who wants to remain anonymous would like to get $48 million for so-called damages to his married life.

The man is from southern France, and he used his wife's iPhone to get a booking for Uber After he logged-out from the phone, his wife kept receiving notifications about his whereabouts. It so happened that the man is actually cheating on his wife. Since the app kept the wife updated where her husband is, the man was caught in his infidelity and since then got divorced, Mirror reported.

The man's lawyer, David-Andre Darmon, said that his client was a victim of Uber app's bug. Even other users said that since Uber's December update, they kept receiving notifications from their friend's log-in details though they have already logged-out from the phone.

"My client was the victim of a bug in an application. The bug has caused him problems in his private life," Darmon said. The bug does not affect Android devices. Only iOS devices experienced this bug which Uber admits. But the company said that the bug is already fixed with its latest update.

Uber has faced a lot of lawsuits before, but on cases like alleged screwing over drivers' rights, failure to protect passengers or cases of dumping drunk people. But this is the first time they have been blamed for a divorce because of a bug on its app.

The lawsuit sounds absurd as it is, but the man seem to have grounds for a complaint under certain technicalities - except for the fact that he wants a $48 million settlement for the case. As reported by Above the Law, the basic thing about infidelity is to not use the phone of the cheatee in the first place if the infidel is planning to do so - and that's common sense.
