The Finnish manufacturer holding exclusive rights to sell Nokia devices, HMD Global, might just be looking into reviving the N-series Nokia smartphones. Rumors are circulating that the company will be unvieling te devices later this year at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2017.
According to VentureBeat, Nokia will reveal four mobile phones at the MWC 2017. The cellular devices in question are the Nokia 3, 5, 6 and what appears to be a modern version of the Nokia 3310. The latter has drawn the most interest from mobile phone enthusiasts.
The Nokia 3310 was originally released as a successor to the highly popular Nokia 3210 in the year 2000. It has notably been the subject of countless amusing memes and stories for its remarkable battery life and physical durability.
The device's modern version will not see conversion into a smartphone. On the contrary, the company will pay homage to the phenomenal creation and it shall remain as a feature phone. The price tag currently listed for it stands at €59.
The price is a moderate cost which is equivalent to around $63. This would allow for previous users of the Nokia 3310 to once again own the device and put it to use. Not only does it serve as a nostalgic item but it could also function just as well as a back-up mobile phone.
There is no word so far regarding the features that the modern version will offer to its users once it arrives in North America. However, it is hoped that the newer version will retain the design elements and functionality which allowed for 100 million units to sell over a lifetime's duration.
Further details of the new Nokia 3310 will be revealed at the Mobile World Congress 2017 on 26 Feb. at the HMB Global presentation. The event will take place in Barcelona and is aimed at the European markets.
