New Law Would 'Reprieve' Political Offenders

By

The struggle to find unification in today's world is no easy feat, and while some people are able to go about it in an easy and simple fashion, others suffer and stagnate when trying to find a way to unite for a better tomorrow. There are a litany of factors to be taken into consideration when finding a solution to unifying for a greater cause, one of which including the grand list of the political offenses caused by politicians in the inner workings of the system. In Bangkok, Thailand, news of a proposal for a law allowing reprieve for political offenders has been catching the eyes and ears of everyone and not everyone seems to be on board with it.

The Bangkok Post claims that one of the main reasons for the proposal of this law that will provide reprieve to political offenders is to promote the building of unity in the country. Pirasak Porchit, the vice president of the NLA (National Legislative Assembly), states that the 33-section bill is being reviewed and will be sent to the Committee for National Administration, which will be categorized under the Framework of National Reform, Strategy and Reconciliation. This of course brings into close investigation of the issues revolving around the politically motivated cases from 2005 to 2014 when the coup was staged to end the stalemate between political parties.

News Summed Up will further explain the major effects that will occur if this new law that provides reprieve for political offenders would be passed, one of which has to do with involving the suspensio nof court proceedings and convictions against all political offenders during the political unrest. Despite some cases having already gone through court proceedings, the prosecutions and court cases that stem from the past political unrest will be suspended under the NRSA's proposed law. Protesters who laid siege to to things such as state offices, blocked roads and airports that were stormed during the time of political turmoil will benefit from this proposed law, making many citizens of the area uneasy and hoping that things will turn out well in the end.
