Ronda Rousey Update: 2 Years Enough for Comeback after Amanda Nunes Loss, Holly Holm Predicts

By

Ronda Rousey made a comeback last month but didn't turn out monumental due to her loss after mere 48 seconds against Amanda Nunes. Although people believe Rousey's retirement is inevitable, former opponent Holly Holm predicts that two years would be enough for another comeback.

Holly Holm was branded as the original Rousey-killer, since she broke the former UFC champion's lossless streak. However, Holm isn't the type to stick to her victory over Ronda Rousey. Currently, she is preparing for her featherweight title at UFC 208 this coming Feb. 11.

As many people assume that it is only right for Ronda Rousey to retire now, and even UFC president Amanda White thinks the same, a recuperation of two years might be enough to recover from her second fatal, and more embarrassing loss. Holm quotes one fighter, Randy Couture, who lost twice then retired for year but made a comeback to win the UFC heavyweight title, Yahoo reports.

Though Holly Holm fought against Ronda Rousey inside the cage for a UFC title, the fact that both underwent similar training and had the same passion for the sport, she has the most right to tell the mind of an athlete.

Holm refuse to ride on the 'Ronda should retire' bandwagon. She wants to see Ronda Rousey get back, if not soon, a bit later. It could be that at this moment, Rousey would be so down because of the consecutive losses, but as a passionate athlete of mix martial arts, Holly Holm believes that she won't last not getting back to the sport she loves, as reported by Rolling Stone.

"I've seen fighters retire multiple times. It's not really a retirement. It's just time off," Holm said. She also believes that if Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes fought before the Holm-Rousey Melbourne fight, things would have been different, and it wouldn't be just a 48-second fight.
