Pokemon Go's Valentine's event goes live on 11 a.m. PT today until 11 a.m. PT on Feb 15. The event comes with plenty of candy, pink Pokemons and other attractions for trainers to enjoy.
Trainers will receive double the candy for catching and transferring Pokemon and by hatching Pokemon Eggs. Pokemon Go Trainers should also have a Buddy Pokemon with them as they will collect candy at an increased rate.
But besides candy, trainers should watch out for special Pokemons. Expect Chansey, Clefable and a pink Porygon to make appearances on Pokemon Go's Valentine's event. Meanwhile eggs hatched during the event will include Cleffa, Igglybuff and Smoochum.
Lastly, Pokemons will be more affectionate towards trainers and find them more attractive than usual. This will then make Lure Module have a longer activity time which is reported to work for six hours straight according to polygon.com.
However not everyone is impressed with Pokemon Go's Valentine's event. According to Forbes, the Valentine's event is not what the game needs right now. It's in fact just a rehash of old ideas that they have done in the past and doesn't necessarily add something new to Pokemon Go.
The double candy event was already done during Pokemon Go's Halloween event and adding it now wouldn't exactly drum interest. What's more, the 2x Buddy Collection system is a downgrade of the Halloween event which had a 4x collection rate. The only good thing going for the Valentine's event is increased chances of rare Pokemons like Chansey.
Pokemon Go has gone stale since its release. What was once a worldwide phenomenon has now been reduced to an app with special events. The promises shown in the reveal trailer have yet to be fulfilled.
What Pokemon Go needs right now is more content and special events like this won't cut it. Fans have waited long enough for more content and may not be there once it launces as long as Pokemon Go keeps doing events like this.
