Beyonce took to her personal Instagram account to share her delight with the world for being pregnant. The announcement doubled as one and confirmed that the star was expecting twins and not just one child.
The Instagram post reads with the caption "We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over," reads the accompanying text. "We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes."
It comes as even a greater surprise to know that Beyonce will be headlining Coachella later this spring in April. The announcement was confirmed by Vanity Fair and now with the superstar bearing twins, we can't help but feel awestruck by her.
The announcement of the pregnancy was made with care and exactly how the star wanted it to be. The shot appears like one out of a magazine spread. But, make no mistake the not-so-subtle hint to the religious iconography complete with the wreathed flowers and the veil did not escape us.
Beyonce shared the image herself without letting it leak out or allowing any other media outlet to steal the exclusive. Sharing the image on her own social media account, akin to "Formation" last year, the news came at the start of Black History Month - an occasion regularly celebrated by her.
The pregnancy shot deliberately displays Beyonce's pregnant stomach. To many, the pointed statement might appear like an insignificant one, given that it is after all a pregnancy announcement. However, what is of import here is the fact that Beyoncé's first pregnancy was greeted with a lot of suspicion.
The star herself did not dignify the rumors with any response but took to her music to send a message to the haters and backbiters. The final video of the album Lemonade, "All Night", included a montage of home video clips containing one that displayed a massively pregnant Beyoncé. As much as 2016 was a great year for the star, with just one month into the New Year, it looks like she will outdo her own mind-blowing achievements this year.
