Samsung Galaxy S8 To Feature 18:9 Aspect Ratio, No Flat Screen Option

By

It will be a while before Samsung releases the Galaxy S8 which is pegged for an April 2017 launch. But that wont stop rumors from spread which includes the latest on the dimensions and design.

Phonearena has the current scoop regarding the Samsung Galaxy S8. According to the website, the new flagship phone will include the usual upgrades like processor, battery and memory. What separates the next iteration is the screen which is supposed to feature a curved display with minimal bezels.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is reported to have no options for a flat screen. This is a departure for its predecessor that offers options with flat and curved screen.

Instead, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8 plus will both feature curved screens that will greatly reduce bezels. The S8 will have a 5.8" screen while the S8 plus will have 6.2" screen. Screen-to-body ratio is reported to be at 83% with is an increase from the 72% of the Galaxy S7.

The screen will sport an aspect ratio of 18:5:9, according to Phone Arena. This would mean that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature the trendy 2:1 ratio called the Univisium that the LG G6 will also feature.

Moreover, a leaked photo and artist render of the Samsung Galaxy S8 show that the finger print sensor will be located on the back. This may be a result of the small bezels of the phone which would leave little room for a home button and a fingerprint scanner in the front. The button will keep the circular shape but it will not be clickable.

Moving on to the materials, it is reported that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will not stray from their designs. The phone will again feature the same glass sandwich of the S7 and S7 Edge.

It looks like Samsung isn't pulling any punches on the Samsung Galaxy S8. This isn't surprising since the company has a lot to regain after the Galaxy Note 7 battery issue.
