'Power Rangers Movie' Trailer Gives First Look at the Main Antagonist & the Mentor of the Rangers

Every 90's kid remembers watching the original "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" series when it came out in 1993. It would mark the beginning of a franchise that would last for over two decades that produced multiple title series and movies. Now, a reboot of the original series will make its way to the big screen in March 2017.

The movie, simply titled "Power Rangers Movie," features 5 ordinary teenagers who are facing modern day struggles. They stumble upon a place where they find their soon to be mentor and leader, Zordon; played by Bryan Cranston. They are endowed with special powers and abilities that will help them defeat the evil villain Rita Repulsa; played by Elizabeth Banks.

"Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it's too late, band together as the Power Rangers," "Power Rangers Movie" synopsis from its official website. The movie has a similar theme to that of the original T.V. series but uses a more mature tone to capture an older audience.

The latest official trailer for the movie introduced two main characters in Zordon and Rita Repulsa. Zordon, played by Bryan Cranston, is a "floating galactic sage who guides the Power Rangers through the use of a giant holographic face." He also has a robot assistant named Alpha 5, who was also a character in the original series.

The main antagonist, Rita Repulsa, is "pure evil" as Cranston's character simply put it in the trailer. She commands "Putties", soldiers "apparently created out of whatever material is lying around, like rubble and concrete", as per Collider. Along with one of her henchmen, Goldar, she looks to destroy the world and only the 5 chosen Power Rangers can stop her. The movie will hit cinemas on March 24, but you can check out the trailer right here:
