US President Donald Trumps' executive order that bans immigrants from seven Muslim countries from entering the country sparked controversy within the tech industry. As a response to the executive order, Google has pledged to donate $4 million to support US immigration organizations.

The announcement came from a company-wide memo that was first reported on by USA Today. It follows other tech companies who has also pledged to donate for the immigrations issue.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has said the was upset about the impact of the executive order saying that it relates to restrictions placed upon Googlers and their families. In addition, the report says that there 187 Google employees who will be affected by the ban.

Other tech companies also followed suit in their criticism of the executive order. The Verge reports companies like Apple and Tesla have shared similar thoughts on the issue.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has expressed his concerns over the immigration ban. According to him several of his employees will be affected by the ban and tell that diversity is a strength in Apple.

Airbnb meanwhile has promised to provide free housing for Syrian refugees. Brian Chesky of Airbnb announced his help on Twitter.
