LeBron James stole the spotlight from Oklahoma City's Russel Westbrook by adding a milestone to his storied career.
With Westbrook registering his 24th triple double of the season, James became the first player in Cavaliers history to score 20,000 points. In leading Cleveland to a 107-91 win against Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunders, LBJ scored 25 points and passed the milestone in his 10th season. According to Daily Mail, James has twice as many points as Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who is second in the franchise's all-time list with 10,616 points. He ranks 8th in the league's all-time list with 27,938 career points.
Russel Westbrook scored 20 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 10 assists but struggled all night hitting just 7 of 26 from the field and committed four turnovers.
Coming into the game, LeBron needed just 6 points to reach 20,000 points. He hit the needed points with 9 minutes 39 seconds left in the second quarter giving him 20,001 points.
Statistics from ESPN revealed that Cleveland joins 15 other franchises in having a 20,000 point-scorer. 14 teams which includes Washington, LA Clippers, New Orleans, Phoenix, to name just a few are the only teams remaining without one.
"I'm blessed I've played with some great teammates in this uniform the last three years and obviously my first seven in the league. Those guys set screens for me, they rebound the ball, kick it to me, they work their tails off for me to be able to put up 20,000 as a Cav." James said.
According to Yahoo Sports, Kyrie Irving scored 29 points and dished out 10 assists as Cleveland survived the early departure of Kevin Love, who left with less than two minutes in the first half after suffering from back spasms.
