The face that runs the place is back at the top of the mountain. The Viper gets another opportunity to win another title. This summarizes the events that transpired at the 2017 Royal Rumble held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

In the battle for the WWE Championship, John Cena needed two Attitude Adjustments to put away AJ Styles to become a 16-time champion in front of an estimated 52,000 fans. As a result, Cena equals the record of Ric Flair as a 16-time champion.

According to World Wrestling Entertainment, it was Cena's first title since 2014. Prior to regaining the WWE title, "The Doctor of Thuganomics" also won the US title 14 months ago.

The match at the Royal Rumble was the third between Cena and Styles. The leader of the Cenation suffered two defeats at the hands of the Phenomenal One. They first met at Summer Slam and again in a Triple Threat Match at WWE No Mercy.

Meanwhile, Randy Orton won the 2017 Royal Rumble besting 29 others. In the process, he gets a crack at the WWE championship at Wrestlemania. The Viper eliminated Roman Reigns to become the last man standing. The Royal Rumble event also featured the likes of Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, and Undertaker.

An interesting sidelight was the face-off between Goldberg and Lesnar. His humiliating loss to Goldberg was still fresh in the mind of Lesnar and he would want nothing but to eliminate Goldberg. But the same thing happened when Goldberg speared Lesnar and eliminated him. According to Bleacher Report, Randy Orton is the latest repeat Royal Rumble winner.

In other matches, Forbes reported that Kevin Owens retained his WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose recaptured the Intercontinental Title beating The Miz, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson winning the Raw Tag Team Titles against Sheamus and Cesaro, and Charlotte Flair retaining the Women's Championship versus Bayley.
