LG G6 was intended to have Amazon's Alexa as its pre-installed digital assistant. However, they decided to replace it with a "better" Google Assistant making it the first non-Pixel phone to have it.
Scheduled to be unveiled on Feb. 26 on the Mobile World Congress 2017, LG G6 will be the Korean-based tech firm's next flagship device. It will have a sealed battery for the first time making it possible for the phone to be water resistant.
The design change only proves that LG is intending to step into the competition of leading mobile phone providers like Samsung and Apple. The G6 will have a Snapdragon 821 instead of the latest Snapdragon 835. This seemed to be a faulty decision as people would likely prefer to choose devices already equipped with the latest chip from Qualcomm.
But the decision made was essential, as they wanted to release the G6 during the MWC 2017. If LG settled for the Snapdragon 835, it would have caused delays and most likely the G6 will have to wait until April to be launched.
Still, the design specifications is something to look forward to. The LG G6 is expected to have a thin frame around the body with rounded edges on the all glass display. It will have a 5.7 inch display with 2:1 aspect ratio. A dual-camera system and a fingerprint sensor at the rear is also expected.
The biggest thing about the LG G6 is its being equipped of Google Assistant. Early rumors state that Amazon's Alexa was the first choice to be included in the next flagship device. However, LG saw that Alexa is not yet ready and that Google Assistant would be a better choice.
The LG G6 will be the first phone ever out of the Pixel line of devices that will be equipped with Google Assistant. It can be used to set alarms, make voice searches, and will give access to Google's chatbot-style interface.
