Scientists Successfully Clone First Human-Pig Chimera

Science is one of the things in life that continues to change and evolve just as the life that surrounds it. With every passing second of every passing day of every passing year, science continues to move forward in the direction of progression thanks to the finest minds that humanity has to offer. Year after year, we do something that inches us towards progression, whether it's discovering something new or saving something that needs to be saved. Last year, the panda was no longer considered endangered among other achievements in science. This year, the possibilities could be endless, but one has to wonder if there can be something truly in store for this new year. Apparently, one has already been found as a new milestone has been reached, leading to potential healing for the human race as just one of its potential possibilities.

For the first time in scientific history, humanity has achieved what was considered years ago impossible: the engineering of a human-pig hybrid. While it sounds like something out of the Twilight Zone, it is, in fact, real. According to The Guardian, the milestone study was conducted for the purpose of growing human organs inside other animals so that it may be transplanted to patients that are in need of new organs. Ax example of this would be the discovery of diabetes being cured in rats in a recent scientific study.

Known as the "Human-Pig Chimera", according to IFLScience.com, these chimeras are made by two fertilized cells or zygotes, and while they sound like they belong in pure fiction or mythology, the reason for their creation is mainly to steer towards the transplantation of healthy organs to those in need. Despite the idea of human-pig hybrids being horrific to some people, many would argue that it would be the same thing as raising animals for the pure sense of eating them, like how many have been doing with pigs, chickens, and cows.

However, the moral issues that come into play with it are tricky, as it would be easier if it was simply just a pig. The fact that it is now a hybrid with a human brings its morality to question. Though we can deal with these ethical issues at a later point, scientists around the world are stopping to marvel in the scientific value of this discovery. Chimeras are now having more attention paid to them, meaning that hopefully there will be a way to help those patients in need of new organs.
