Cristiano Ronaldo Explains ‘Rivalry’ With Lionel Messi

By

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to receive individual awards with the most recent coming from Dongqiudi Chinese media portal, which crowned him Most Valuable Player of the year 2016. In his acceptance speech for the award, the media couldn't help to ask about the intensified rivalry between him and Lionel Messi, and Ronaldo revealed the truth about it.

The Portuguese striker denied that there is a war between him and his Argentine opponent Messi. He seems to have blasted the media as reported by TribalFootball, saying that this is only their creation and that the football business is striving because of it but understands that it is all part of the game.

For the 31-year-old striker of the Real Madrid team, Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi does not exist and that he can't be compared to Messi and vice versa as they are both great players, individually and collectively. He even added that both players have respect for each other and have a normal relationship outside the playing field.

While Ronaldo said that he understands the temptation among supporters to pit two of the strongest football players against each other, he can't understand why occasionally the Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi can become ridiculous and out of hand.

As reported by BleacherReport, Ronaldo finds it ridiculous that people compare them constantly to the point that even their children, how they grow, how they go to school, even who is faster are being compared.

Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi continues though when it comes to awards and achievements. Just recently, the International Football Federation (FIFA) crowned Ronaldo as the best football player in the world and he also obtained plenty of wins this 2016 getting the Champions League with Madrid and the Eurocopa with Portugal. On the other hand, Messi, the FC Barcelona forward is the only football player in history to win five FIFA Ballons d'Oralso and continues to dazzle people in his career.

Both are focused on doing their best for their team and as said by Ronaldo for ESPN both are here to make their fans happy.
