'Deadpool' Cast Ryan Reynolds Gives Uncharacteristic Response To Oscar 2017 Nominees

By

Ryan Reynolds shows a different side of his Deadpool persona as he sends an unexpected message to this year's Oscar nominees.

Fans who follow Reynolds on Twitter are pretty much accustomed to his comedic antics. The 40-year-old actor revels in playing as the funny guy by frequently posting sarcastic jokes on social media.

However, his message to the Oscar nominees is not what fans expected him to say. You can view his Twitter response below.

Although his response still retains some shades of comedy, it was surprisingly tame for an actor who plays an insanely hilarious assassin in "Deadpool." Regardless, Reynolds showed an excellent display of sportsmanship towards the rest of the Oscar 2017 nominees.

No hard feelings

It appears that Reynolds is not harboring any ill will towards not being recognized in the Oscars. In fact, the "Deadpool" actor even complimented the Oscar nominated films by calling them "brilliant."

Of course we can't help but wonder if the actor is putting on his best poker face or if he was being legitimately serious. After all, he did post a semi-serious clip on Twitter of what appears to be an Oscar consideration campaign, as reported by SlashFilm.

As for whether or not the "Deadpool" star is actually taking this seriously, it's anybody's guess.

There might be an Oscar in Deadpool's future

A report from GameSpot mentioned a celebratory Tweet from Deadpool himself. Reynolds shared via Twitter, that the whole "Deadpool" team celebrated after receiving Golden Globe nominations.

Superhero-based movies are usually overlooked in movie awards. However, the fact that "Deadpool" received a Golden Globe nomination pushes these types of movies closer to the ever-coveted Oscars.

Who knows, we might be living in a time where Superhero movies will be treated seriously enough to be deemed Oscar-worthy.
