Chelsea Clinton defends Barron Trump: He deserves the chance 'to be a kid'

By

Chelsea Clinton, daughter of US former president Bill Clinton and former Secretary of States Hillary Clinton stood up and condemning online attacks on Barron Trump, the youngest son of President Donald Trump - urging the public to remember that he is just that - a child.

Clinton posted on her twitter stating that Barron "deserves the chance every child does - to be a kid". While she maintained that first children should be shielded from bearing the harsh criticism for their parents' political choices, she however acknowledge that protecting children's innocence means holding the current administration accountable and challenging policies that undermine children's health and well-being, reported The Telegraph.

Clinton, 35, was just 12 when her father Bill Clinton became president in 1993. She is now pregnant with her second child and become used to living in the public eye.

The whole backslash was started by a controversial tweet by Saturday Night Live writer Katie Rich who wrote "Barron will be this country's first homeschool shooter". Netizens have asked her to delete the post since it was rude and disrespectful.

This was not the first time that Barron Trump was put into such situation. Last November, Rosie O'Donnell who is fully against President Trump suggested that Barron is suffering from autism, and posted a video of to prove her statements.

The video is basically a compilation of footages mainly taken from Donald Trump's election victory speech, focusing on Barron who appears to be inexpressive, yawning and clapping in a way that she agreed as signs of autism. O'Donnell was cristizised by many who said he had been forced to stay up until 3am that particular evening and his behavior was in fact normal - just like any other tired schoolboys rather than an autistic one.

Soon after the video went viral, Melania issued a legal letter to O'Donnel, who then announced her apology through Twitter, and set her account to private almost immediately after the post.

'I apologize to @MELANIATRUMP - i was insensitive in my RT - i am sorry for the pain i caused - it was not my intent - i am truly sorry,' wrote O'Donnell on Twitter.
