Modified Tesla Model S Cars Go From 0-60mph In 2.1 Seconds

The Tesla Model S P100D can go from 0 to 60mph in 2.5 seconds, making it one of the fastest cars to come straight out of the production line. Not only is this electric wonder fast, it is also very cheap when compared to other super cars such as Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini. You can purchase your own Model S P100D for just about $160,000.

As if the Tesla Model S was not fast enough, a modified version of it, which will be used in the Electric GT Championship, can go even faster. This modified version is able to go 0 to 60mph in 2.1 seconds. This is faster than Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, which clocks in at 2.4 seconds; or Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, which clocks in at 2.5 seconds as per Zero to 60 Times.

The Electric GT Championship (EGT) is a zero-emission, international championship that will consist of 20 identical, modified Tesla Model S cars, will be held this year. Ten teams and a total of 20 drivers will drive these beasts on race tracks across Europe and America. In a report by Square Space, Mark Gemmel, CEO of the EGT, said: "I am very excited to be using the Tesla Model S P100D as it is incredibly quick and innovative."

Electric GT was able to achieve this feat through very simple modifications to the production model of the Tesla Model S. They were able to trim 500 Kgs from the car, upgrade the braking and suspension system, and racing slicks replaced factory tires. The Model S' engine was also given a boost to about 778 horsepower as per Mashable. The lighter body and more powerful engine allow the car to achieve such a time in the quarter mile.
