Peta Murgatroyd, who recently gave birth to her first child, gets real about her post-baby body on Instagram. The "Dancing With The Stars" pro with fiance and DWTS partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy welcomed Shai Alekshander on Jan. 4.
"Real life: I took this photo 8 days post birth. I left the hospital looking 5 months pregnant. Many people think a woman should shrink right back to her pre-birth weight immediately. That is just not the truth for most," she captioned her Instagram picture, proudly displaying the picture of her post-baby body.
Murgatroyd said that the female body can be incredible and resilient, but healing and strengthening may require as much time. She also encouraged other woman saying, "Now it's time for patience and hard work. Lots of love to all the new mamas out there on the journey."
The 30-year-old dancing pro, alongside the picture, added the hashtag "#ShaiIsWorthEveryPound."
Murgatroyd is known for having the most luscious body on Dancing With The Stars reality show. The DWTS duo announced their engagement in December 2015 and revealed that they were expecting their first child six months later.
Murgatroyd is one the celebrities that had to decide to fight against post-baby body expectations in Hollywood. Some of the celebrity moms who have refused to be body-shamed and attacked by critiques for their post-baby body in the past are Chrissy Teigen, Anne Hathaway, Blake Lively and Kerry Washington among others.
Hollywood, obsessed with "hottest celebrity post-baby bodies" has been creating unhealthy expectations for new moms and pregnant women. It has, for the longest time, created the impression that losing baby weight is easy yet mandatory, putting a growing pressure among the women.
One picture Murgatroyd has yet to share is of her new baby. She and Chmerkovskiy mentioned that they have decided to wait before sharing pictures of their son.
