An impressive year has gone by for video games with many of the decade’s highly anticipated games being released in 2016. As Final Fantasy XV finally had its release, ‘Pokemon Go’ and ‘Super Mario Run’ also took over, thanks to Nintendo.
Numerous familiar titles have crossed gaming and app stores, including fan-favorites ‘Fallout 4’ and ‘Grand Theft Auto V,’ while ‘No Man’s Sky’ was deemed as a strongly controversial game for 2016. Released as a free-to-play game, ‘Dota 2’ was easily favored by many.
This year, however, there have been questions that are yet to be confirmed when it comes to the future of certain fan-faves, such as ‘Pokemon Go.’ Niantic recently shared a poll on Twitter to rake in gamers’ sentiments over ‘Pokemon Go’ events they prefer to carry out in 2017. According to the results, 54 percent of the players who responded wanted a Halloween celebration while 18 percent preferred a Thank You event. The rest of the gamers look forward to some Pokemon Go holiday season festivities.
Aside from these events, ‘Pokemon Go’ updates are also being expected this year, including the Gen 2 Pokemon that is likely to be the biggest update in the game’s history. In particular, new Pokemon characters can possibly transform the game into a more appealing one for its players, giving it more than a few options when capturing Pokemon. One of Niantic’s previous updates, the Baby Pokemon update, was criticized for not meeting gamers’ expectations after giving out only a small number of new Pokemon.
Aside from ‘Pokemon Go,’ gamers are also looking forward to the tactical game, ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands.’ Ubisoft recently made an announcement of a 30-minute, live-action promo clip being released for the upcoming game. The teaser below offers a brief look at the circumstances brought on by Bolivia’s drug cartels. Rapper-actor T.I. can be seen in the clip as a lead actor.
A ‘Resident Evil 7’ will also be released this year as a new survival game in the long-standing franchise. Fans can look forward to playing a new protagonist- Ethan Winters- who goes out to search for his wife, leading to a set of frightening tasks in a Louisiana plantation mansion.
Other highly-anticipated popular games in 2017 include ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,’ ‘Mass Effect: Andromeda,’ ‘Halo Wars 2,’ and ‘Sniper Elite 4.’
