Floyd Mayweather encourages Ronday Rousey to comback with pride after loss to Amanda Nunes

By

Ronda Rousey would once again enter the Octagon following her first career loss at the hands of Holly Holm in UFC 193 on November 2015, where she lost the UFC Women's Bantam Weight title. On December 30, 2016 at UFC 207, Ronda Rousey would get a chance to regain her title against the current champion, Amanda Nunes. However, it would only take Nunes 48 seconds to win the match via TKO (punches), serving Rousey another defeat. After which, Rousey once again went into seclusion.

It would take nearly two weeks for Ronda Rousey to break her silence. It would be done in the form of an Instagram post on January 9, where she quoted J.K. Rowling saying "And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life. - J.K. Rowling" - @rondarousey. This would garner sympathy and words of encouragement from all her fans, past opponents and even, retired boxing champion Floyd "Money" Mayweather as reported by Bleacher Report.

People can remember a while back when animosity grew between Rousey and Mayweather follow the former winning Best Fighter of the Year at the ESPYs. The undefeated boxer obviously felt he deserved the award and made comments about Rousey. However, now the 49-0 boxer has encouraging words to offer the fallen champion in a video interview taken by FightHype.com, despite not having to have faced back-to-back defeats (or any defeats for that matter) in his own career.

When asked about Ronda Rousey in the video, Money Mayweather had this to say: "Ronda Rousey, hold your head up, stay focused, keep believing, a true champion can bounce back. You'll be OK, everything will be OK." Mayweather also added "2017 is a whole new year - you're undefeated this year. Come back, champ."

These words may not be the catalyst that propels Ronda Rousey back to the dominant force in MMA she was once, considering the two don't particularly have a budding friendship. However, Mayweather does have a point with his message. Ronda Rousey should hold her head up as she will still be remembered as one of the best fighters of our generation and has the skill, resources and support to make a return to the sport she loves.
