The grand expanse of space is something that a great deal of us do not understand. It is always something to think about when you realize that the portion of space that we know of now is but a fraction of something that is constantly expanding. While we are busy exploring the planets, the stars, the galaxies, and so on, the universe continues to grow and grow past our wildest imaginations, fashioning things that we've never explored and things that we would never dream of. The universe is full of possibilities and opportunities, and it looks like in about five years, all of us will be able to witness something truly amazing.
In what's to be one of the mankind's most anticipated moments, a star will be set to explode in 2022, merely five years from now. Inquirer.net reports that the star to explode is found in the Cygnus constellation, the swan for many astronomers. The binary star system known as "KIC 983222" will merge and detonate into what is known as a sky "red nova" as reported by Calvin College in Michigan, USA and astronomer Lary Molnar from The National Geographic. This is truly an event that will rock the skies themselves, and astronomers from all across the globe will be pining for a chance to see this happen.
According to The National Geographic, astronomers are confidently able to predict that a specific stellar system will explode with a defined period of time, making itself more than 10,000 times brighter than it is now. Because of this, the explosion will be witness by everyone without the requirement of visual aids such as telescopes. This will be the first time they will be able to predict such an astronomical event. As the stars merge, their final dance will indeed light up the sky.
