‘Cars 3’ News & Release Date: New Characters, Lightning McQueen's Fate Revealed

By

Disney's Cars movie franchise is one of the most popular Disney movies to come out. It was an interesting movie about the life of Cars and not the life of the people that drove them. The movie actually shows no humans, and most other life froms take the form of more primitive automobiles, such as cows being represented as tractors and so on. Being a moderate success, the franchise came out with more movies of the same kin, releasing titles such as Cars 2, another adventure featuring the speedy racecar in a completely different track, and even another movie that doesn't include cars but instead planes. While the team behind the Cars and Planes movie franchises have achieved a moderate amount of success, they continue to push this limit by capturing the intrigue of the franchise's fans in a more serious tone with their latest trailer of Cars 3.

If you've seen the trailer, the short leaves many in question as Lightning McQueen is seen spiraling into a dangerous situation on the harsh and unforgiving racetrack. While the trailer was short, it was heavy enough to leave a great deal of questions such as what happened to our protagonist and what will happen in the movie. Polygon claims that the new extended trailer released will explain what will be the fate of our hero in this world of cars. For most of us, our theories were correct. McQueen doesn't die in the beginning mostly due to the fact that a lot of fans would not be able to handle such a travesty so early into the film. But this does, however, set ground for him to improve himself in the face of overwhelming odds.

GAMENGUIDE states that the new characters will be appearing in the movie now introduce a more serious tone in the movie that blends with its atmosphere. Cruz Ramirez and Jackson Storm, two of the new and very important characters, will be there to ultimately bring Lightning McQueen to a new level. While Jackson seems to most likely be the main villain and/or rival, Cruz is there to help Lightning McQueen by teaching him techniques to keep up with the ever changing strategy of high-speed racing. Perhaps the most important feature revealed about the movie is that Lightning McQueen, our celebrated protagonist, will feel the same emotional spiral that Doc Hudson felt in the first Cars movie. While this is a change in approach for this movie, Disney has also been known to take darker and serious tones before and looks to add the same type of flavor with the upcoming Cars movie which will be in theaters on June 16, 2017.
