Every year The Golden Globes never fails to impress the audience of the world. But 2017 marked the year of a truly moving and inspiring speech by none other than the gorgeous and legendary Meryl Streep.
With grace and poise, she addressed one of the major issues currently affecting The States or in other words, the elephant in the room: Donald Trump.
The President-elect, who is rather popular for insulting and degrading fellow individuals, was the highlight in Meryl's moving speech. Although she refrained from mentioned the name of America's future president; it was very clear who she was talking about.
"There was one performance this year that stunned me. It sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good...there was nothing good about it! Although it left an influence on me!" Streep delivered her speech after graciously accepting her Cecil B DeMille award.
"It was that instant when the individual that was asked to sit in the highest seat in our country imitated a disabled reporter." Right there and then the audience was aware that Trump was going to get it.
"Someone that was outranked in opportunity, supremacy and the power to voice his disapproval. It sort of broke my heart when I witnessed it and till now I can't seem to get the image out of my head because it wasn't a joke or in a movie. It was real life!" Streep's voice shook as the emotional moment took hold of her.
The reporter Streep referred to is none other than the New York Times reporter; Serge Kovaleski who suffers from arthrogryposis a condition that affects his joints. The American president bluntly drew attention to the unlucky disabled reporter with embarrassing and absolutely repulsive actions that imitated the reporter's condition.
"Disrespect invites disrespect, violence invites violence. When the powerful use their position to bully others we all lose." Meryl Streep raised awareness towards the disturbing event that was highly petty and immature coming from the US President-elect.
Later on according to The New York Daily News, Trump took to Twitter to rant about Meryl's speech. Trump bore no shame of the incident and referred to it as "I never 'mocked' a disabled reporter (would never do that) but simply showed him......."
Good one! Now we know the country is in good hands.
