Seahawks vs. Lions Preview

The Seahawks are limping into the playoffs as they are without free safety Earl Thomas and wide receiver Tyler Lockett due to injuries, per Yahoo! Sports. Thomas was a key cog on the Seahawks defense while Lockett was one the best receiver options for quarterback Russell Wilson.

Despite the injuries and inconsistencies, Seattle has the advantage over the visiting Lions. The Seahawks are full of playoff experience led by head coach Pete Carroll. Players like Wilson, along with Doug Baldwin, Michael Bennett, Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman know how to win in the postseason.

Seattle has been in the Super Bowl twice in the last three seasons. Wilson is also undefeated at home during the playoffs in his entire career. On the other hand, the Lions are underdogs since they have not won a road playoff game since 1957.

And to make matters worse, Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is playing with an injured finger. Detroit went 1-3 since Stafford suffered the injury more than a month ago. However, the MVP candidate believes the injury will not be a factor during the NFC wild card game.

"I don't think it really does, honestly. I feel pretty solid with it. Obviously have to make some changes, but nothing drastic," Stafford told ESPN in an interview.

According to Forbes, the Seahawks are the favorites to win the NFC wild card game over the Lions. Seattle ended the season strong while Detroit lost its final three games and failed to secure home-field advantage.
