One restaurant wants everyone to know it won't be serving certain types of people, and it's not ones without shirts or shoes - it's Trump voters. If you voted for Trump, you cannot eat here! No Nazis,' says the yellow sign posted on the restaurant's front door. Photos of the sign were shared throughout social media.
The Italian cafe, owned by Robert and Jali Warner, Honolulu's Cafe 8 ½ is known for its signature dishes, such as the "Radiatore Verde" and "Italian stir fry," Fox News reported.
But an anti-Trump sign displayed on the mom-and-pop restaurant's front door is getting mixed reviews. "The next time you're in Honolulu, eat lunch here, not only are they on the right side of things, the food is delicious and reasonable," wrote one Facebook user.
"I've eaten here twice in the past during vacations. Food has always been good, service decent," wrote one Yelp reviewer. "But the nonsense sign is a huge turnoff. Doesn't matter if it was saying the opposite thing (ie no Clinton supporters). It's simply inappropriate.
Another Facebook user commented "I shall not be going back which is a shame as we're just planning another visit to Hawaii for 2017."
Jali Warner, who told Fox News the sign was not meant to be taken seriously, adding that they "don't put anything different" in your food if you are a Trump supporter. She said that her husband just want to express how much he doesn't like Trump.
"If people take it personally or it hurts them, we cannot help. That's why we say they have a choice if they want to come or not come. We don't force them," she said, adding that they do not want to create trouble as there is enough trouble (already) in the world.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton received plenty of support from Hawaii on Election Day. Hawaii has had a strong history of supporting Democrats. "The [restaurant] owners might want to make a better sign since Trump will undoubtedly be in office for eight years," ended Willes Lee, president of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies.
