Connecticut Senate passes broad gun control bill to owners subjected in domestic violence

By

The Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy has passed the broad gun control bill on Monday, May 2. The said bill affects gun owners who are involved or guilty in committing domestic violence, are required to temporarily surrender their firearms within 24 hours.

According to Guns, the broad gun control bill affects force gun owners who are found guilty of domestic violence to surrender their firearms for a temporary restraining order. The law was proposed by Democrats last February and was ruled out in a 104-42 vote last week.

In addition, the approved house bill prohibits the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection from issuing a gun permit to a restrained person.

Other than that, league president of Connecticut Citizens Defense Scott Wilson stated, "We feel it is important for the public to understand that individuals who may be served with an order of this type do not even have to be charged with any crime, let alone convicted of wrongdoing.

It's unfortunate that proponents of the bill that hold office and have sworn to uphold our constitution are working hand-in-hand with groups that are specifically misleading the public. These groups are essentially claiming those who get served with one of these orders are factual domestic abusers based on one-sided claims.", CCDL Blog has cited.

On the other hand, 2nd amendment groups opposes the gun law since it transgresses the 4th and 5th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution, stating that the restraining of guns with no opportunity for gun owners to voice out their side prior to the confiscation is bound for abuse, FOX 61 has learned.

Gun contol advocates, who have supported the temporary restraining order of firearms, embraced the newly approved law by and urged Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy to sign in the broad gun control bill immediately.
