Britney Spears has finally faced her former manager and friend, Sam Lufti, for the first time in years for a legal battle over claims that her ex-handler ruined her career and her relationships in the past.
In a report by Hollywood Life, the 34-year-old singer's extensive court battle with Lufti was recently revived. Spears was forced to sit face-to-face with Lufti during a deposition. Accordingly, the deposition involved Spears answering questions about her previous professional relationship with Lufti. The sit-down came after the legal team of Spears said that Lufti should be kept out of the conference room during the deposition as his presence could intimidate her and prevent her from thinking clearly.
However, the judge handling the case did not permit the request. The judge did agree to take the proper steps in order to protect the wishes of the singer, The Daily Mail reported. A long table was set up and Spears and Lufti sat on opposite ends. A surveillance-type camera was set up in order to record the deposition and make sure Lufti was not in any way intimidating the singer. The two were also required to arrive and leave at different times.
Lufti and Spears met back in 2007. They began a professional relationship via text messages. Spears was at the top of her career when she met Lufti as her songs were climbing the charts. However, Spears and her family claimed that Lufti almost took it all away from her as he reportedly gave her drugs and attempted to strain her relationship with her mom, Lynne Spears, who is now 60.
Lufti, on the other hand, claimed that he was trying to get Spears off of using pain medicines and was actually the reason behind the singer reconciling her relationship with her mother.
Daily Star also reported that Spears was placed in a conservatorship back in early 2008 after her very public meltdown. Her father then controlled her financial assets and other aspects of her life.
Spears has been focusing on rebuilding her career and making new music now. She has a residency in Las Vegas along the likes of Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, and more.
